The Juan Jose López-Ibor Foundation aims to provide information on the most relevant aspects of mental illnesses. One of the goals of the Foundation is to fight stigma and discrimination against people with mental illnesses that also ends up affecting their relatives. The best way to fight stigma is to provide accurate and authoritative information; the best way to end discrimination is increasing awareness on behaviors, norms, rules and even laws that put people with a mental illness at a position of disadvantage compared to others. The Madrid Complutense University and the López-Ibor Foundation have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of research.
The Rector of the Complutense University of Madrid, José Carrillo Menéndez, and the President of the López-Ibor Foundation, Juan José López-Ibor Aliño, signed a cooperation agreement between the two institutions to conduct various research projects and activities in the field of neuroscience.
Actas de Psiquiatría
The journal Actas de Psiquiatría counts among its collaborators with leading figures in the panorama of national and international psychiatry. Its English publication facilitates the access to researchers around the world and has thus achieved to place the journal as one of the most important ones in the field of psychiatry.
The funds of the López-Ibor library come from the personal library created over many years by Prof. Juan José López Ibor and continued by his son Prof. Juan José López-Ibor Aliño, the latter one donated them all to the Foundation in his will.
